Dr. Burness F. Ansell, Jr., MD, passed away surrounded by family, love and faith, on January 27, 2017.

Dr. Ansell began his medical career in Richmond, Va., at The McGuire Clinic in 1967. He practiced hematology/oncology for over 40 years before retiring. He was a longtime, dedicated Scouter, obtaining his God and Service and Silver Beaver Awards. He obtained the rank of captain in the U. S. Naval Reserve.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, medicine, Scouting and his country.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nancy. His survivors include his children, Burness, Kathy, David, Becky, and Richard; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Booker Class at Second Baptist Church or to the Boy Scouts of America.
