Victor Eugene Cornett, MD, died June 12, 2018 at age 88 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. “Gene,” as he was affectionately known was born March 2, 1930 in Galax, Va., to V.E. Cornett, Sr., and Ruth Dobyns Cornett Thomas.

Dr. Cornett graduated from University of Virginia Medical School in 1956. After teaching at the Medical College of Georgia for six years, he became a founding partner of Thoracic Cardiovascular Associates in Greenville. After retiring in 1991, Dr. Cornett became owner and operator of Reedy Fork Farms, raising beef cattle and serving the local community.

Dr. Cornett is preceded in death by his parents and two children, Cynthia and Will. He is survived by Ben Cornett (Cindy), Martha Glover (Steve), Preston Cornett (Cathy), Catie and Laura Cornett. He also survived by six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Church of the Redeemer or South Greenville Fire Department.
