This scholarship was established in the 1980s by Mr. and Mrs. John Minor Botts Lewis, Jr., as an expression of appreciation for the excellent treatment Mr. Lewis received from physicians at the University of Virginia Hospital. Although Mr. Lewis’ prognosis was described as bleak, the doctors were able to extend his life by a few years. The name of the scholarship was changed in 1996 when the Lewis’ son, Mr. George Willis Logan, made a large donation to the already endowed fund. Scholarships are provided to both UVA medical students and nursing students.
