Established as a general scholarship fund. The fund balance grew with the addition of alumni gifts and smaller class fund balances. In 1999, a gift from the Estate of Dr. Charles V. Amole (Class of 1933) added over $100,000 to the fund. In 2008, Dr. Robert Keeley, (Class of 1944) made a $50,000 contribution in memory of Mr. William Booth (deceased in 2008), who was the executive director of the UVA Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation from 1960 to 1992.  To honor Mr. Booth’s many contributions to the UVA Medical Alumni Association and the high esteem for which he is remembered, the scholarship was renamed the William A. Booth Medical School Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are provided to medical students demonstrating either financial need or academic promise.
