David Lavine, MD ’72, was recently honored by the America Association of Plastic Surgeons for his work on the Icon Project. The project archives audio-visual interviews of leaders, teachers, and innovators in plastic surgery and their contributions to the field. His interviews number over 30 distinguished plastic surgeons. His first interview was Dr. Milton Edgerton, who started the first autonomous division of plastic surgery at UVA in 1973. Dr. Lavine’s more recent interviews include Mark Constantian, MD ’72, author of three plastic surgery texts.

Dr. Lavine recently retired after 42 years of practice in Fort Worth, Texas.
