Erik Eklund, MD, has joined Wake Radiology UNC REX Healthcare’s Musculoskeletal Imaging Department. One of eight new physicians joining the team this year, Eklund brings subspecialty knowledge in examining bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and connective tissue to enhance the expertise and experience of the Triangle’s oldest and largest outpatient imaging group.

Originally from Charlottesville, Va., Eklund earned bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and Spanish linguistics from the University of Virginia. He pursued his medical education at his alma mater, earning his MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery internship, residency in diagnostic imaging, and a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging and informatics at UVA.

Eklund is also a member of the American College of Radiology and North Carolina Medical Society.
