George Beller, MD ’66, MASNC, has been named a co-recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC). The award recognizes individuals whose work and dedication to nuclear cardiology and to ASNC have helped ensure quality and safety in the field.

Beller is the former chief of UVA’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and served in that role from 1977-2004 and 2007-2008. He helped to pioneer the field of nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, which helped lead to a decrease in fatalities from heart disease.
