After nearly 40 years of academic medical writing, retired physician Mark Scott Smith, MD, turned to historical fiction. Intrigued by WWII events in Oregon and Japan, he fictionalized characters on both sides and published Enemy in the Mirror: Love and Fury in the Pacific War in 2012.

His history-inspired novel The Osprey and The Seawolf: The Battle of the Atlantic 1942 was released in 2018. Carefully researched, the book contains many technical details describing how a woefully, unprepared America battled against an extremely effective German U-Boat offensive in 1942.

Both books are available on Amazon.
