Sherita Hill Golden, MD ’94, MHS, has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) as one of its newest members. NAM announced 90 new regular members and 10 international members during its 2021 annual meeting.

Golden is the Hugh P. McCormick Family Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism and vice president and chief diversity officer at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She was elected for her work in identifying biological and systems contributors to disparities in diabetes and its outcomes.

Golden is a past recipient of the UVA Medical Alumni Association’s Walter Reed Distinguished Achievement Award and is an active member of the association’s Black Medical Alumni Engagement Committee.
