Dr. Paul Daniel Koors, 38, of Bethel died suddenly on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in Danbury, Connecticut of an undiagnosed heart condition.

Paul was born on December 5, 1979, in New York City, the son of Paul and Patricia Koors. He graduated from the Hackley School, attended Bucknell University, and graduated from Brooklyn College before going to medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at University of Virginia in 2017 and was currently practicing in Danbury.

Paul married Elizabeth Kueffner in 2008 and they enjoyed 10 wonderful years together shared with their much-adored children, Ellie (age 9) and James (age 7). In addition to his wife, children, and parents, he is survived by a host of friends and relatives who loved him dearly.

Paul was a gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He has left us with cherished recordings of his music, his beautiful voice, and his moving lyrics. Paul’s friends, family, and patients felt embraced by the warmth of his smile, his easy manner, and his compassionate heart. Dr. Nariman Dash, Paul’s mentor and friend, described him as “a kind and gentle soul.” Paul will live on in all who knew and loved him and we are richer for having had him in our lives, blessing us with his presence and, even now, in his absence.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dr. Paul D. Koors to The Medical College of Virginia Foundation, P.O. Box 980234, Richmond, VA 23298-0234, or to Calcutta Kids.
