Amory Mstislav Sommaripa, MD, 89, of Harrisburg, Pa., died onDecember 27, 2019 at his home. He was a loving husband and father, and a caring physician who enjoyed listening to classical music, photography and sailing. He was an avid reader of history and world affairs.

Amory was born in Cambridge, Mass., November 26, 1930. He was a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and Harvard College. He earned a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University and served as an employee of the CIA. He received a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and practiced general internal medicine in Chestnut Hill, Pa., for many years. He then joined the staff of All Saints’ Rehabilitation Hospital, Wyndmoor, Pa., and later served as its Medical Director. Later, he became Medical Director of Grand View Hospital in Bucks County, Pa., and then held the same position at Community General Hospital in Harris, NY. He and his wife Pat moved to Harrisburg and for the next ten years he consulted for the subsidiary of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. He and his wife, Pat, married in 1984.

He retired in 1999 and he volunteered for various community services in Harrisburg area. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat, and by four children of his first marriage: daughters, Nina and Annie and sons Nick, and Amory. He has also left behind 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his son Lex in 2014.
