Dr. Benjamin Ward Ogden, age 36, of Vineyard, Utah passed away on May 21, 2021. Ben was born on January 31, 1985 in Ogden Utah as the second son of Ward Nash and Kathleen Franke Ogden.

Ben loved his brothers and paved the path for everything his brothers did. Nate, Gabe and McKay all played soccer, piano, and drums because of Ben. They knew he had set the standard for them. He always had their back and was watching out for them.

Ben lived twice the life in half the time. He excelled at everything he touched. He played competitive soccer including national and international tournaments. He earned 2 state high school soccer championships and was a four-year starter playing center midfield at Weber State University. He skied hard. He biked hard. He ran hard. Ben had the tenacity and drive to push himself through the most difficult conditions in pursuit of his objectives. While in medical school he entered his first marathon, which he ran in under 3 hours, qualifying him for the Boston Marathon.

Ben served a mission in the Mexico, Chihuahua Mission. This was one of the greatest joys of his life. He worked hard, loved the people, and had much success. His companions had to run between houses to keep up with him as they proselyted. Ben was a missionary wherever he went. His integrity to true principles was an example to his family, friends, teammates, and coworkers. They used to say “If Ben Ogden is doing it then it must be ok.”

He was an accomplished artist and amazing pianist. He got perfect grades in high school. He studied zoology at Weber State University as a pre-med candidate. He was honored as the recipient of the Weber State Crystal Crest Award for Scholar of the Year in 2009 and was co-valedictorian of the Science Department. Ben graduated from medical school at the University of Virginia in 2013 and received his training as an orthopedic surgeon at the University of Nebraska. He completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Tampa General Hospital. At the time of his death, Ben was a partner in the Revere Health practice in Utah County. He had a deep appreciation for his partners and the staff that he worked with, who loved and supported him through his illness.

Ben was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May 2020. After surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, he returned to his medical practice and continued to fulfill his lifelong goal of helping people to heal. Ben gave everything he had to his patients while enduring unbearable fatigue, nausea, and headaches and in March 2021 he could finally do no more. He did not complain. He just wanted to work while he could and do his best.

Ben is survived by his parents Ward and Kathy Ogden, his brothers Nathan Ogden, Gabriel (Hannah) Ogden, and McKay Ogden. He was preceded in death by his older brother David Ogden.

Services will be held at the Weber Heights Stake Center, 1401 Country Hills Drive, Ogden, UT at 11am on Friday May 28, 2021. Viewings will be at the same location on Thursday May 27 from 6pm to 8pm and on Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Interment will be at Washington Heights Memorial Park. Ben’s service will be live streamed on his obituary page on the day of the service at 11 a.m., and it will remain on the website indefinitely.
