Bret Stetka, MD ’05, died suddenly after having a seizure at home on August 6, 2022. He was 43 years old. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Petrusich, and their daughter, Nico.

Stretka was executive editor at WebMD. He had been working as a writer and editor at Medscape since 2007. He was also a contributor at NPR and Scientific American. In 2021, he published his book, A History of the Human Brain: From the Sea Sponge to CRISPR, How Our Brain Evolved.
