David Emerson Streitmatter, MD, was born in Peoria, Illinois June 22, 1923 to Albert E Streitmatter and Irene Mae Wells Streitmatter and died August 24, 2016.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ida Bernice Bickers Streitmatter in 2007. They were married in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1947. She was the love of his life.

Dave graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1941 as Valedictorian. He served in the Army during WWII. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1945, University of Virginia Medical School in 1949, and served in the Air Force as Medical Officer during the Korean War.

He moved to Dallas in 1955 and practiced General Internal Medicine in North Dallas for 38 years. He was on the attending staff at Presbyterian Hospital and member of many other medical societies, including Texas Club of Internists. He had a great concern and respect for his patients, office staff and colleagues. He was devoted to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, to the Dallas Preston North Lions Club as a 60 year charter member, and to the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Sigma Chi educational Corporation.

David is survived by sister, Marilyn Woodman of Evanston Illinois, nephews Dr. Charles Woodman of Bremerton, Washington and David Woodman of Mercer, Island, Washington and many in-law nieces and nephews in Virginia.
