Dr. Dawen Bu, 58, of Glen Allen, Va., passed away peacefully on August 28, 2021. He is preceded in death by his mother, Zhang Chun Fang; and father, Bu Zong Hua. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jing Wang; his daughters Jingnan and Sarah; his grandson, Matthew; and his sister, Tong Wen.

Dawen was born in Shijiazhuang, China. He earned a medical degree from Hebei University, and immigrated to the United States in 1990 to seek further opportunities for his family. He continued to pursue his passion in medicine in the United States. Dawen completed his residency training in Neurology at Wayne State University where he served as chief resident. He then completed his fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Virginia.

Over the next twelve years, he used his special gift of connecting with others while caring for his patients in private practice. Beyond his work, he was a devout family man and Christian. A devoted husband and loving father, Dawen most cherished spending time with his family. His wit and jovial laugh could brighten any room. He was a member of the Grace Chinese Baptist Church of Richmond, where he served the Lord in fellowship alongside a community of brothers and sisters. He returned to the Lord’s Kingdom on August 28, 2021 after a three-year battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him in life.
