Harry W. Reinstine Jr., MD, son of Ann and Harry Reinstine passed away December 29, 2020. Dr. Reinstine was a native Jacksonvillian, born on January 17, 1926.

He was educated at the Bolles School and the University of Virginia, graduating from the School of Medicine in 1949. He served in the US Navy (V-12) during World War II and as a Medical Officer during the Korean War. Following his internship and residency he began the practice of General Surgery in August of 1955, retiring in 1989. Dr. Reinstine was a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgery and belonged to several other surgical organizations. During his practice years, he served as Chief of Staff at St. Vincent’s Medical Center for two years. He also served as Chief of Surgery at St. Vincent’s for six years.

He was a member of Downtown Rotary, Timuquana Country Club and the River Club. One of his hobbies after retirement was Tang So Doo Karate and he achieved a sixth degree black belt in that discipline.

Dr. Reinstine was preceded in death by his first wife, Villa Lobrano Reinstine in 2010 and is survived by his second wife, Geraldine Burnett Reinstine. He is also survived by the following stepchildren from his first marriage: Jennifer Lobrano, Tom Lobrano (Sharyn) and Edward Lobrano, and from his second marriage: Sam Godfrey, Troy Godfrey and Leedith Renfro (Bill); two nephews, Jonathan Reinstine (Paige) and Frank Reinstine (Lisa); and one grandson, Thomas Lobrano (Kim).

Funeral service will be private and any memorials may be sent to the St. Vincent’s Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
