Martha Elizabeth Mitchell, loving daughter and sister, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the age of 61. Martha was born in Norfolk, Virginia, the first of three daughters to Ronnie and Annette Mitchell. She grew up in Chesapeake where she attended Western Branch H.S. and participated in 4-H. Martha then attended the University of Virginia, where she received both a bachelor’s and a medical degree. She practiced anesthesiology for almost 30 years. In addition to her contributions in the medical field, Martha had a passion for animals, especially horses, and devoted much of her time to caring for them. She also enjoyed unique collectibles and the sound of Celtic music. Martha celebrated Christmas with gusto and brought great energy and excitement during holiday visits with her family. Martha is survived by her father, Ronnie; her mother, Annette; her sisters, Amy and Jennifer; and her nephews, Ethan and Owen. Martha passed away surrounded by her family in the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula area, where she greatly enjoyed spending time.
