Dr. Mary Louise Stephens of Virginia Beach passed away August 29, 2018 at the age of 83. Mary Louise was born to Brumbach Stephens and Katherine Louise Stephens in Beckley, WV and grew up in Charleston, WV. After graduating Hollins College, she was the only female graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1962. She enjoyed a varied career including practicing physician, researcher, and teacher. She was an avid horseback rider and consummate gardener. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Brumbach Stephens. She is survived by three sons: Stephens, Russell, and Geoffrey Smith. The family invites donations in Mary Louise’s name to the Audubon Society.
