Melvin Thomas Pinn Jr., MD, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Melvin Thomas Pinn Sr. and Vera Ferguson Pinn Tweedy. His younger brother David Wayne Pinn preceded him in death.

Dr. Pinn is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Evora J. Pinn; daughters, Tanika M. Pinn, MD and Melva E. Pinn-Bingham, MD (Leon); and son, Melvin Thomas Pinn, III. Miss Nadia Kai, Miss McKinley Karis and Master Leland Bingham are his loving grandchildren.

Dr. Pinn was a graduate of Dunbar HS, 1966, attended Johnson C. Smith University on a tennis scholarship and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemistry, 1970. Following college, Dr. Pinn attended the University of Virginia Medical School and obtained a Doctorate of Medicine in 1976, then the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Master’s of Public Health. Dr. Pinn worked in Charlotte, N.C., for over 20 years as a family physician and medical director and in Richmond, VA for 17 years as senior medical director.
