Paige Powers, MD ’96, passed away Monday morning at her home in Charlottesville after a 15 ½ month battle with cancer. She was a former member of the UVA Medical Alumni Association Board of Directors and held the position of treasurer.

Following is an excerpt from Dr. Powers’ Caring Bridge site:

“As many of you already know, she lived her life with intensity and purpose. She was daring and fearless. If anyone was prepared to face adversity with grace and poise, it was Paige. She also modeled strength and integrity throughout her life, raising two bright, happy and self-assured daughters. She bolstered her deep reservoir of energy with a passion for fitness and endurance sports. In building her own thriving private medical practice over nearly 20 years, she enjoyed collaborating with fellow physicians in her capacity as a talented ENT and head and neck surgeon known for bringing her medical expertise and compassionate treatment approach to improving the lives of her patients and their families.

Her story is multifaceted. We all carry it with us.

At Paige’s request, there will be no funeral. Details of a memorial gathering, planned for the spring, will be shared here. Friends and family are invited to use this CaringBridge journal as a memorial site.

It is Paige and Mike’s wish that in lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made in her name at this link to Martha Jefferson Hospital, where Paige treated thousands of patients over the years. During her own treatment there, she was tremendously appreciative for the kindness, professionalism and dedication of everyone at the Cancer Care Center.”
