Dr. Robert Point, age 90, died Monday, March 2, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living-Shelby. Born in Charleston, WV on August 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter W. Point Jr. and Maude Brown Point. He completed his undergraduate school at Harvard, earned his medical degree from University of Virginia and his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Point served eight years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After his separation from the Army he practiced dermatology in both Washington D.C. and West Virginia before retiring in Kings Mountain. He was a long time member of Shelby Presbyterian Church where he was a church elder and former Deacon as well as working with the soup kitchen, the Presbyterian Hunger Committee of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Walter W. Point III.

Dr. Point is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gayle Massi Point of Kings Mountain, two sons; Robert B. Point Jr. and wife Tammy of Thayne, WY, Dr. Stuart W. Point and wife Cristine of Wilmington as well as 6 grandchildren; Dr. Dana Point and wife Ashley Fortney-Point, Ryan Point, David Point and wife Keri, Dr. Rob Point and wife Ashley Bunch Point, Garrett Point and wife Chelsea, Shelby Point and four great-grandchildren; Jackson, Davis, Alexandra, and Skylar and two soon to arrive.

A memorial service will be held in West Virginia at a later date.
