Giving

Your Gift Matters
The UVA Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation is an independent organization relying on donor contributions to provide scholarships, events, and services for School of Medicine alumni, students, housestaff and faculty. Thank you for your support.

Ways to Give

  • Gifts of Cash
Make a gift and/or pay your dues online to support the UVA School of Medicine and the Medical Alumni Association.
  • Recurring Gifts
You can set up recurring gifts that will be automatically transferred from your bank account on or about the 10th of each month for as long as you wish. To set up a bank draft, use our Bank Draft Giving Form.
  • Matching Gifts
Many companies encourage their employees to make charitable contributions by matching their philanthropic support. Donors receive credit for their employers’ matching gifts. To find out if your employer offers a matching gift program, use our online search or consult your human resources office. If your company provides matching gifts, you must then obtain a matching gift form from your company or human resources office. Sign the form and mail it to the UVA Medical School Foundation (PO Box 800776, Charlottesville, Virginia 22908).
  • Securities
Use your investments in the financial markets without losing a substantial portion of your earnings to the capital gains tax by making charitable contributions, either via an outright gift or a planned gift, with appreciated stock. You may also make a gift with appreciated shares in a mutual fund. View instructions and our Security Gift Form here.
  • Endowment Gifts
Endowment gifts are long-term investments aimed at securing the success of the Health System for years to come. These gifts are retained and invested to produce sufficient income to support student scholarships, faculty professorships, and other important programs.
  • Planned Gifts
There are three ways to support the School of Medicine through financial or estate planning: Plans from your estate, plans that pay you income, and plans that help the University now and your family later.

    • Bequests are gifts offered through estate plans, including wills, living trusts, and retirement plans. View bequest information here.
    • Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts allow you to make a gift to the University and receive income for your life or the lives of the chosen beneficiaries.
    • A Charitable Lead Trust makes it possible for the University to use the income from a gift made for a specified period of time, and then return the remainder to you or your heirs.
