Ways to Give

  • Gifts of Cash
    Make a gift and pay your Dues online to support the UVA School of Medicine and the Alumni Association.
  • Securities
    Use your investments in the financial markets without losing a substantial portion of your earnings to the capital gains tax by making charitable contributions, either via an outright gift or a planned gift, with appreciated stock. You may also make a gift with appreciated shares in a mutual fund.

  • Endowment Gifts
    Endowment gifts are long-term investments aimed at securing the success of the Health System for years to come. These gifts are retained and invested to produce sufficient income to support student scholarships, faculty professorships, and other important programs.

  • Planned Gifts

    There are three ways to support the School of Medicine through financial or estate planning: Plans from your estate, plans that pay you income, and plans that help the University now and your family later.

    • Bequests are gifts offered through estate plans, including wills, living trusts, and retirement plans.

    • Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts allow you to make a gift to the University and receive income for your life or the lives of the chosen beneficiaries.
    • A Charitable Lead Trust makes it possible for the University to use the income from a gift made for a specified period of time, and then return the remainder to you or your heirs.

** Please Note  Effective March 1, 2009, the Medical School Foundation will apply a one-time 5% assessment on each installment of restricted gifts to support the unrestricted general operating funds of the School of Medicine. **

Your Gift Matters
The Medical Alumni Association in an independent organization relying on donor contributions to provide scholarships, events, and services for School of Medicine alumni, faculty, and students. Thank you for your support.
