Recent news about alumni of the UVA School of Medicine:

  • Timothy R. B. Johnson, MD ‘75, is the recipient of Johns Hopkins’ 2025 Samuel P. Asper Award for Achievement in Advancing International Medical Education in recognition of his work in Ghana bolstering obstetrics and gynecology training. He is also one of this year’s recipients of The John Stearns Medal for Distinguished Contributions in Clinical Practice from the New York Academy of Medicine. Johnson is a professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at Michigan Medicine.
  • Raymond Wadlow, MD ’00, was featured in Arlington Magazine talking about how his mother Emily Couric’s battle with cancer shaped his philosophy as a physician. Today, he is a medical oncologist and researcher at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Merrifield, Va.
  • Yvonne Latimer, MD ’00, resides in Tampa, Fla., and is practicing family medicine. She has been in private practice at Pinnacle Health Group in Hyde Park since July 2019.
  • Alexa Tabackman, MD ’21, ran the Boston Marathon for the first time on April 21, 2025, to raise money for Boston Medical Center, where she recently completed her residency and now works as an attending. BMC is a safety-net hospital. Tabackman rasied nearly $7,900 for the cause, and all donations went directly to help fund programs for patients.
