FAQs:
Do I need a ticket?
All ceremony attendees will need a ticket, which will be given directly to students (for themselves and their guests) in advance of the ceremony. For those unable to attend the ceremony in-person, a livestream recording will be available.
What time should I arrive?
Doors open at 3pm and the ceremony will begin at 4pm. We recommend arriving no later than 3:45pm. General seating for guests is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Where should I sit?
All guest seating is first-come, first-serve. Students and faculty who play a role in the ceremony will have assigned/reserved seats and will not be sitting with guests. If you requested accessible seating for a guest, additional information will be provided.
What is the dress code?
The dress code is business casual.
Where is Old Cabell Hall?
Old Cabell Hall is at the south end of the Lawn. Here is a map of Central Grounds for reference. Walking directions are provided at the bottom of this email. It is approximately a .25 mile walk (~5-7 minutes) from the Central Grounds Garage to Old Cabell Hall.
Are photos allowed?
Yes. We have planned for a professional photographer to take pictures of the event, as well as group photos of each college up on the steps of Old Cabell Hall after the ceremony, which will be free and published online for you to download and share with family after the event. The photographer will not be taking a picture of every single student as they receive their white coat. Family/friends are not permitted to block aisles, but are welcome to take photos from their seats throughout the ceremony.
Will food and beverage be available?
Food and beverages are prohibited in Old Cabell Hall. However, we welcome all attendees to join us for a reception of light refreshments after the ceremony in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom.
