49th Annual Bowman Celebration
The 49th Annual Bowman Scholars Celebration was held on October 3. The event recognizes five fourth-year students for clinical excellence, integrity, enthusiasm, and compassion.
Congratulations to the 2026 Bowman Scholars: Liliana Diaz, Megan K. H. Powell, Nabeel Ali Raza, Abel Ruiz Diaz, and Tara Srivastava. Abel Ruiz Diaz was selected as the 2026 Bowman Award recipient.
The Dr. Cecil Richard “Dick” Bowman Fund exists at the UVA School of Medicine to recognize medical students who demonstrate the spirit and ideals of the late Dr. Bowman. Five Bowman Scholars are chosen and honored annually at the conclusion of their third year of study, in recognition of clinical excellence and for exemplifying integrity, enthusiasm, and compassion, among other qualities. The Bowman Scholars are selected by a committee of clinical educators from the School of Medicine.
The 49th Bowman Lecture will take place at Medicine Grand Rounds on October 30 and will feature Brian Wispelpwey, MD.
