In the Spotlight: 2018 Winter Retreat

The UVA Medical Alumni Association’s 2018 Winter Retreat, formerly known as the Annual Meeting, is a new biennial tradition that blends the best of the former format with new opportunities to learn, relax and celebrate along with fellow alumni, students, housestaff and faculty of the UVA School of Medicine. The event will take place February 16-17 at Lansdowne Resort and Spa in Leesburg, Va.

Highlights include the State of the School address from Dean David S. Wilkes, MD, and a presentation by Daniel “Trey” Lee, MD,  director of UVA’s pediatric stem cell transplant program who has conducted pioneering research into the development of CAR T-cell therapies.

2018 Reunion

The countdown is on for the 2018 Medical School Reunion Weekend. Classes ending in 3 and 8: Make plans now to join us in Charlottesville, April 27-29, for a walk down memory lane with your classmates. Registration begins in January, but you can make your hotel reservations now and have the best choice of accommodations at discounted rates.

Horsley Award

The John Horsley Memorial Prize is a biennial thesis competition for UVA School of Medicine alumni. The investigation reported in the thesis may be carried out in a laboratory, clinic, or private practice. One winner will be chosen for the $5,000 prize. Entries must be received by April 15.

Baby Bibs

Meet future doctors David and Hannah. They are modeling the baby bibs we sent their parents, 2012 alumni Josh and Patti Chew, to congratulate them on their new arrivals. If you’re an alumnus/a who is expecting or you’ve recently added to your family, please let us know and we’ll be happy to send you a “V Medicine” bib, too.
