Update: Fall Medical School Reunions Canceled
Published: August 12, 2021
Dear Alumni,
It is with sadness that we are writing to you today to let you know of the decision to cancel class reunions* planned for this September.
As alumni whose reunions are impacted by this decision, we share your disappointment. However, your safety is our priority. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are currently on the rise in communities across the country due to the Delta variant, and even those who are vaccinated are at risk. In addition, as of last Friday, the University of Virginia has implemented a mask requirement for all people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, who enter UVA properties, and while gatherings are allowed, they would be impacted by this and other possible restrictions.
Alumni and their guests who have already registered online will be issued a full refund to the credit card they used in their original registration. To cancel your hotel reservation, please contact the hotel directly (see links below for information related to your specific reunion).
The UVA Medical Alumni Association (MAA) is committed to finding opportunities for alumni to gather and celebrate their reunions. While we do not have plans in place yet for each class that was scheduled to have an event this September, please watch for more communication from the MAA as we weigh various options.
If you have any questions, please contact the UVA Medical Alumni Association.
Sincerely,
Kevan E. VanLandingham, MD ’85
President
UVA Medical Alumni Association Board of Directors
Patrick J. McManus, MD ’85

UVA Medical School Foundation Board of Trustees
