Congratulations to the winners of our 2018 Early Achievement Award: Joel Baumgart, PhD (Scientific Award) and Scott Beach, MD ’06, Res ’10 (Medical Award). This new award recognizes alumni who have brought honor and distinction to the UVA School of Medicine by demonstrating outstanding leadership in and making significant contributions to the field of medicine early in their careers through teaching, research, clinical care, public or professional service, or civic duties.

Congratulations also to Bonnie Offit, MD ’87, recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Medical Alumnus Award. Dr. Offit, a long-time volunteer and past president of the Medical Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the profession of medicine and exceptional service and dedication to the University of Virginia Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation.

These awards were presented on November 16 during the fall meeting of the UVA Medical Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and UVA Medical School Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
