Patrick J. McManus, MD ’85
September 1, 2022 – The UVA Medical Alumni Association is pleased to recognize Patrick J. McManus, MD ’85, with the 2022 Outstanding Medical Alumnus Award.
McManus has been a dedicated volunteer, member and leader of numerous medical societies and boards for more than two decades. His service to the UVA Medical Alumni Association includes serving as a member of the Board of Directors from 1995-2000 and 2006-2011, including his role as president in 2009. He has served on the UVA Medical School Foundation Board of Trustees since 2011 and was president from 2020-2022.
McManus’ involvement with the School of Medicine dates back to his time as a medical student at UVA. He served Alpha Omega Alpha as both vice president and treasurer in 1984 and 1985 respectively, a member of the Committee on Medical Education and the Mulholland Society Social Committee, and vice president of his medical school class in 1981-1982.
After graduating from UVA in 1985, McManus completed his residency in internal medicine with an emphasis on primary care at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He went on to be a partner with Fredericksburg Internal Medicine until 1999. Today, he practices at McManus & Associates Internal Medicine with a focus on primary care and prevention.
