2021 Alumni Award Nominations

Each year, the UVA Medical Alumni Association honors distinguished alumni, housestaff and other individuals associated with the University of Virginia School of Medicine with the following awards:

  • Walter Reed Distinguished Achievement Award
  • Early Achievement Award
  • Distinguished Achievement Award in Biomedical Sciences.

The deadline to submit a nomination for our 2021 alumni awards is July 31. You can find criteria, nomination forms, and a list of previous recipients (including our 2018 Early Achievement Award recipients seen above with Dean David S. Wilkes, MD), here.


Reunion Updates

The UVA Medical Alumni Association is currently planning rescheduled reunions for many MD alumni classes this fall and in Spring 2022. This includes most alumni from classes ending in 0, 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7, and recent grads from Classes 2005-2020. You can find currently scheduled events on our calendar. MORE


ICYMI: Kibbe Named Dean

Melina R. Kibbe, MD, has been named the 17th dean of the UVA School of Medicine and chief health affairs officer for UVA Health, succeeding David S. Wilkes, MD. She comes to UVA effective Sept. 15 from her role as the Colin G. Thomas Jr. Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also holds an appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. MORE


Class Notes

COL Joshua S. Hawley-Molloy, MD, FACP, has been named Governor of the United States Army Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of internists. He is an internist and infectious diseases specialist and is currently the deputy commander for medical services at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the Department of Defense’s largest overseas hospital. MORE
